About Course
Pick the Right Subject Code – Without Guessing is a focused micro-course that shows CEU authors and coordinators how to map a course topic to the correct primary subject area and, when useful, an optional secondary area. In about 15 minutes you will learn a short set of rules, practice with three example topics, and write a one-line rationale that helps reviewers understand your choice. The goal is fewer edits, faster approvals, and a cleaner catalog.
Who should take this
- CEU authors, instructional designers, and A&D program owners.
- Marketing and operations teams responsible for submissions and catalogs.
- Presenters who need their course listed accurately in events and portals.
Learning outcomes
By the end of this course, participants will be able to: (1) identify the primary subject area for a topic; (2) select a secondary code only when it adds clarity; and (3) document a one-sentence rationale suitable for the submission file.
Format & requirements
- ~12–13 minutes of instruction + 5-question quiz (80% pass).
- Downloadable coding worksheet and rationale template (optional resource).
Note. For internal provider training, many teams tag these courses under an instruction-related subject (e.g., “Instruction 3.1”) to indicate internal skills development. Always follow your governing index and definitions when coding.
